Prof Francesco Ciucci is Assistant Professor in Mechanical And Aerospace Engineering and in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He received a Diplome d’Ingenieur (~MSc in Applied Mathematics and Applied Physics) at Ecole Centrale Paris, France, in 2001 and a Laurea (~M.Eng.) in Aerospace Engineering in 2003, followed by a Ph.D. degree at the California Institute of Technology, USA, in 2009. Professor Ciucci’s work focuses on solid state ionics with applications in the areas of solid oxide fuel cells, oxygen permeation membranes, and oxygen sensors, and lithium-based batteries. His research work has been features in high profile journals such as Nature Chemistry, ACS Nano, and Advanced Functional Materials. Prof. Ciucci was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar and Bechtel Fellow while at the California Institute of Technology. He received a Marie Curie Grant while at the University of Heidelberg where he did his postdoc in Applied Mathematics.
